Battle of Gettysburg, 1863

Dear Journal,
 
We beat 'em! Lee and his army is in full retreat. Gettysburg is ours 
again. I am so happy that they are leaving. We did lose some good men 
on the line but we won. I would like to think that they are just as 
happy as we are. But I wish that they were still with us rather than 
well, you know. I have to make this short because the Colonel is 
mustering us up for duty. I suspect we'll be leaving here soon 
ourselves, getting back to the war before it leaves us behind. I am 
going to write my family and let them know about the victory here and 
tell them that I'm fine.
