Battle of Gettysburg, 1863 Dear Journal, It's been a weary morning here. General Winfield Scott Hancock came by and talked to the officers for a while. I found out that we are to be positioned in the center of our lines. I guess its a reasonably safe area since everyone is saying that Lee is positioning his troops to the left and right of our line. Hold on...Lee's army attacked our left flank! By God that's where Chamberlain is holding at. I hope that they're all right. I look over and I see that some of the men are rattled by this news. Hold steady boys! I wonder if they'd come to the middle where we are. By God I hope so! Lets get this fight over with. Sgt. James Tucker Army of the Potomac July 2, 1863
