Telling time with a 24 hour clock
In the letter by Joshua Chamberlain dated
July 21, 1863, "The battle for Little Round Top,"
he stated times using the military system of
timekeeping. The military operates on a 24 hour
clock. The time is shown by the hours that have
already elapsed during the day. For instance,
1 o'clock in the morning would be 0100.
