Camp Near Nashville Aprile the 9 1864 i have got but two leters from father sins i bin here one month today we ar Still lying in the State of tenasee Near the sity of Nashville but i dont think we will Stay there much longer for we ar giting the horses now and i think as Soon as we git hours we will leave the weather is warm here and It is Showing evry Prospect for Sumer the Peach trees is in full bloom and the fields looks quite green and the boys is lying all in the Shade to keep from the Scorching Sun father Said he bougt that farm of Barningers itold him to move on it and farm it Wright and to put Some lime on them fields wen he plows them up and then farm them to make the most mony of them i Sopose father is living at the new farm and i hope that he will live in Peace and not quarl with the new neighber Charles mets ihope he Sends a Couple of Stamps evry time he rites as they ar hard to get here henry got aleter from his wife yesterday and he Cryed to go home and hiram and me lafte at him -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- End Notes: Mr. Earnest, Sr., bought the farm of Israel Berninger with the money John sent home so he would have a farm of his own after the war. He moved onto it and did farm it. The farm is still in the Earnest family today. "hiram" is Hiram Parker, another private. "henry" is also another soldier, but has not been identified yet.
