March 20, 1861

I am very concerned.  South Carolina began secession for 
us on December 20. That is 3 months now, and the Federal 
Army is still occupying Fort Sumter in the Charleston 
Harbor.  We have sent a warning to Mr. Lincoln and his 
country to vacate the fort, or there is going to be heck 
to pay.  

General Beauregard has requested permission to attack Fort 
Sumter and take it away from the Yankees.  I am torn.  What 
should I do?  

I suppose we will fulfill the promise in our warning.  If 
Lincoln tries to re-supply the fort, we will not allow it.  
There will be war, and we will win.  The United States better 
start realizing that we want our freedom and we mean business.
